Accenture has secured an approximately EUR 200 million, seven-year contract from the NATO Communications and Information Agency to develop the Protected Business Network with Leonardo. According to official statements, the programme will modernise NATO’s classified digital infrastructure, supporting secure cloud services for around 29,000 users across the Alliance.

The NATO Communications and Information Agency (NCIA) has awarded Accenture a seven-year contract valued at approximately EUR 200 million to deliver the Protected Business Network (PBN), a strategic cloud transformation programme approved as a NATO-wide capability. According to official disclosures, Accenture will partner with Leonardo to design, implement and operate the platform across NCIA's multi-cloud environment, enabling secure cloud-based services for approximately 29,000 users throughout the Alliance.

The initiative is intended to replace legacy digital infrastructure with a standardised, scalable and resilient cloud operating model that supports classified communications, secure data access and faster deployment of digital services. The programme is designed to strengthen operational continuity while improving cyber resilience against evolving security threats.

The contract is significant for the defence technology, cybersecurity and cloud computing sectors, reflecting rising government investment in secure digital infrastructure and Zero Trust security architectures for mission-critical organisations. It also reinforces demand for large-scale systems integration and long-term managed cloud services across the defence ecosystem.

Accenture is a global professional services company specialising in digital transformation, cloud, cybersecurity and consulting. Leonardo is an Italy-based aerospace, defence and security company providing advanced technologies, cyber defence solutions and mission-critical systems for government and defence customers worldwide.
