ACWA Power has secured the Initial Commercial Operation Certificate for the initial units of the Qassim 1 project in Saudi Arabia, unlocking 1,283 megawatts of active generation capacity. Financial contributions from the partial plant launch are projected to materialize beginning in the fourth quarter of 2026.

SAUDI ARABIA —ACWA Power has announced the receipt of official notification confirming that the Qassim 1 facility has achieved initial commercial operations for its first wave of power generation units. Located in the Qassim region of Saudi Arabia, the project company, Qudra One for Electricity Company, secured the Initial Commercial Operation Certificate on September 22, 2026. This initial milestone brings 1,283 megawatts of electricity generation online, representing a substantial portion of the project's overall design capacity of 1,896 megawatts. ACWA Power maintains a 40% equity stake in Qudra One for Electricity Company, positioning the enterprise to capture proportionate economic returns as the facility scales toward completion.

Headquartered in Riyadh, ACWA Power is a prominent Saudi developer, investor, and operator of power generation and water desalination plants globally. The phased activation of the Qassim 1 plant underscores ongoing efforts to expand regional baseload energy supplies and modernize the domestic grid infrastructure. By bringing more than 1,200 megawatts online ahead of final project completion, project stakeholders are effectively addressing rising regional power demands and enhancing grid stability during peak consumption cycles.

Corporate financial stakeholders and market analysts should anticipate tangible revenue recognition starting in the fourth quarter of 2026, as the newly operational units begin commercial power dispatch. This development marks a critical operational transition from the capital-intensive construction phase to an active revenue-generating asset. Furthermore, the successful deployment reinforces investor confidence in large-scale energy execution across the region, highlighting the commercial viability of extensive independent power projects backed by structured joint ventures and strategic public-private partnerships.
