INDIA —Adani Enterprises has deployed over ₹161.33 billion in capital expenditure toward its upcoming mega polyvinyl chloride production facility located at Mundra, Gujarat, crossing the 60 percent project milestone. The initial phase of this planned 2 million metric tonnes per annum complex features a 1 million metric tonnes per annum capacity designed to serve domestic industrial demand.
This massive petrochemical development addresses a persistent structural gap in India's industrial sector, where domestic demand for polyvinyl chloride vastly outstrips local supply. Polyvinyl chloride serves as a fundamental raw material across key national economic growth drivers, including agricultural irrigation networks, municipal water distribution, building construction, power cabling, and various industrial manufacturing applications.
By establishing large-scale domestic manufacturing capacity, the Mundra petrochemical complex will significantly reduce India's reliance on foreign chemical imports. The initiative enhances national supply chain resilience for essential polymers while conserving foreign exchange reserves and offering downstream plastic processing industries more predictable local supply channels.
For institutional investors and market participants, this project signals Adani Enterprises' broader strategic pivot toward capital-intensive industrial manufacturing and core infrastructure assets. The unit forms the anchor of a growing petrochemical hub in Kutch district, complementing the group's adjacent investments in green energy, metal refining, port logistics, and digital infrastructure.
Adani Enterprises is the flagship incubator company of the Adani Group, specializing in establishing and scaling large-scale infrastructure, resource management, and industrial manufacturing projects across India.
