The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has signed a USD 75 million loan with Rönesans Holding to support battery energy storage deployment and a hyperscale data center in Türkiye. The financing combines renewable power investment with digital infrastructure development, addressing growing demand for reliable energy, secure data capacity, and cloud-based services.

TURKEY —The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has agreed to provide USD 75 million in financing to Rönesans Holding A.Ş. for investments in renewable energy and digital infrastructure in Türkiye. The transaction marks ADB’s first loan to the Turkish infrastructure group and its first financing for digital infrastructure in the country.

The funding will support Rönesans’ renewable energy platform, including the installation of additional battery energy storage capacity by 2029. It will also contribute to the development of a hyperscale data center designed to operate using a hybrid renewable energy supply. The combined investment links electricity-system flexibility with the expansion of digital capacity for cloud computing, artificial intelligence and other data-intensive applications.

The investment addresses two infrastructure requirements for Türkiye’s economic development: dependable energy supply and access to secure, scalable computing capacity. Battery storage can help manage fluctuations in renewable electricity generation and improve the flexibility of power systems. Meanwhile, additional data center capacity can serve businesses, public institutions and digital service providers as demand for data processing and cloud services increases.

For the energy sector, the planned storage deployment could support greater integration of renewable generation and contribute to emissions-reduction objectives. In the technology sector, the data center investment is intended to expand domestic digital infrastructure. Its use of hybrid renewable energy also connects the project’s power requirements with the country’s broader energy-transition priorities.

The financing may help Rönesans advance capital-intensive projects that require long-term investment. For infrastructure investors and lenders, the transaction illustrates how development finance institutions can participate in projects spanning energy and digital services. The scale and timing of the planned investments will be relevant to contractors, energy developers, equipment suppliers and data infrastructure operators involved in the projects.

Founded in 1993, Rönesans Holding is a Türkiye-based investment and infrastructure group with activities spanning construction, concessions, renewable energy, real estate, healthcare and industrial investments. ADB is a multilateral development bank established in 1966 that finances development initiatives across Asia and the Pacific. The Türkiye investment aligns with ADB’s 2025–2027 interim country partnership priorities, including private-sector investment, resilient infrastructure and digital transformation.
