Adani Energy Solutions Limited has secured a tariff-based competitive bidding contract worth INR 47 billion in Maharashtra. The project entails developing transmission infrastructure to evacuate 4,500 MW of renewable and pumped storage power, strengthening inter-regional grid stability over a 36-month timeline.

INDIA Adani Energy Solutions Limited (AESL) has emerged as the lowest bidder in a Tariff Based Competitive Bidding process to secure a major power transmission contract valued at INR 47 billion. The project, titled Network Expansion Scheme in Western Region to Cater to Pumped Storage Potential near Satara (up to 4500 MW) - Part A, was awarded to set up critical infrastructure across Maharashtra, India. Under the terms of the agreement, the scope of work encompasses establishing a 765/400 kV substation at Satara, constructing a 765 kV double-circuit transmission line between Kolhapur and Satara, and augmenting the Kolhapur pooling station. The entire development is scheduled for completion within a timeframe of 36 months under the Special Purpose Vehicle named Satara Power Transmission Limited.

This development plays a vital role in enhancing the capacity of India's power grid by facilitating the evacuation of up to 4.5 GW of clean power from generation hubs in Karnataka to major consumption centers in Maharashtra. By supporting energy flow towards high-demand zones such as the Satara, Pune, and Mumbai Metropolitan Regions, the venture directly addresses grid reliability and load management challenges. Additionally, the project reinforces the inter-regional transmission corridor linking the Western and Southern power grids, creating a resilient channel capable of handling rapid shifts in energy supply and demand.

The initiative aligns closely with India’s national mandate to install 500 GW of non-fossil fuel energy capacity by 2030. Expanding high-voltage transmission networks remains a core policy focus, serving as an indispensable precursor to large-scale decarbonization. By accommodating both renewable energy streams and pumped hydro storage assets, the scheme highlights the growing emphasis on integrating storage technology into utility-scale transmission corridors to offset generation intermittent nature.

For energy sector stakeholders and investors, the award solidifies Adani Energy Solutions' position as the leading private power transmission entity in India, expanding its order book to approximately INR 850 billion. The addition of 562 circuit kilometers of transmission lines and 9,000 MVA of transformation capacity scales the firm's total portfolio to 29,739 circuit kilometers and 143,425 MVA. Furthermore, the project underscores robust commercial opportunities in engineering, procurement, and construction services within the developing infrastructure landscape, providing a strong precedent for future competitive bidding in renewable energy logistics.
