Airbus Helicopters has secured an agreement to deliver up to 18 Flexrotor unmanned aerial systems to Garuda Technologies, strengthening the latter’s leasing-based drone services. The partnership reflects growing demand for long-endurance unmanned platforms supporting infrastructure monitoring, emergency response, and public safety operations worldwide.

Airbus Helicopters has entered into a contract with Garuda Technologies Inc. for the supply of up to 18 Flexrotor uncrewed aerial systems (UAS), according to official disclosures. The agreement will allow Garuda to integrate the vertical take-off and landing drone platform into its global leasing portfolio, offering the systems to clients through both dry and wet lease arrangements. The Flexrotor platform is designed for long-endurance missions with a compact operational footprint, enabling persistent surveillance and inspection across geographically dispersed assets.

Planned deployments include monitoring of transportation networks, energy infrastructure such as oil and gas pipelines and power lines, and public safety operations including search missions, wildfire observation and disaster response. The partnership highlights accelerating demand for unmanned systems across civil and parapublic sectors, where governments and infrastructure operators are increasingly adopting drones to reduce inspection costs, enhance operational safety and improve response times during emergencies.

Expanding drone-enabled monitoring also reflects broader digital transformation trends across utilities, transportation and environmental management. Garuda Technologies Inc. develops and deploys unmanned aerial systems and drone-enabled services for government and enterprise clients across agriculture, industrial inspection and defence applications. Airbus Helicopters, a division of Airbus, manufactures rotorcraft and unmanned aerial platforms used in civil, commercial and military aviation markets globally.

For industry stakeholders, the deal underscores the growing commercialisation of drone leasing models, which allow operators to access advanced aerial technologies without large upfront capital investment while supporting scalable aerial data services across infrastructure and public safety sectors.
