FRANCE —Airbus Cybersecurity SAS has secured a 25-year contract from France’s General Directorate for Armament (DGA) for the PARACOM cybersecurity gateway programme. The agreement covers the complete lifecycle of the systems, including design, development, production and long-term operational maintenance, following a competitive tender.
The gateways will provide controlled data exchanges between information systems operating at different security and sensitivity levels. Their functions will include filtering and securing data flows between classified and unclassified environments, making the systems part of the cybersecurity infrastructure supporting France’s armed forces and defence administration.
Deployment is planned across Ministry of the Armed Forces and Veterans’ Affairs facilities as well as operational theatres. The equipment will be offered in configurations suitable for installation in data-centre racks or standalone use at command posts, allowing the same technology to support both permanent infrastructure and field operations.
The programme has applications across a wide range of military platforms, including surface vessels, submarines, aircraft, helicopters, drones and land vehicles. This flexibility is relevant as defence organisations increasingly connect operational systems and exchange data across networks that require different levels of security clearance and protection.
For France’s defence technology market, the contract combines cybersecurity, secure networking, systems engineering and long-term maintenance within a single programme. It is expected to create sustained requirements for hardware production, software and security engineering, system integration, certification, technical support and lifecycle services over the contract period.
The agreement also illustrates the strategic importance of secure cross-domain data exchange in increasingly digital military operations. Defence organisations require mechanisms that can move authorised information between networks without weakening controls around sensitive systems, creating demand for specialised gateways and associated security technologies.
