INDIA; SWEDEN —Swedish industrial manufacturer Alleima is expanding its production footprint in western India with a new SEK 220 million investment in its Mehsana, Gujarat facility. Building on a prior expansion completed three years ago, the upcoming phase focuses on establishing localized manufacturing of advanced tubes tailored for fertilizer production, larger-dimension industrial tubing, and precision tubes for compressed natural gas fuel systems and hydraulic applications. Operational rollout for the expanded capacity is scheduled for completion during 2028.
This capital expenditure aligns with sustained industrial expansion across South Asia's energy and chemical processing corridors. By establishing domestic supply capability for specialized tubing, the initiative addresses regional supply chain vulnerabilities, reduces procurement lead times for industrial clients, and enhances export capabilities across neighboring markets.
The expansion targets high-growth industrial sectors where component integrity, high corrosion resistance, and operational safety under extreme pressure are essential. Equipment suppliers and infrastructure developers in the petrochemical, fertilizer, and clean energy transport domains stand to gain greater access to high-grade metallurgical components.
From a strategic perspective, localized specialized manufacturing offers material producers a cost-competitive edge while strengthening downstream supply chain resilience. The initiative enables regional energy and chemical operators to mitigate cross-border transit risks and optimize project delivery timelines amid accelerating energy transition efforts.
Headquartered in Sandviken, Sweden, Alleima specializes in advanced stainless steels, special alloys, and industrial heating solutions. The company operates an end-to-end integrated value chain supplying seamless steel tubing, precision strip steel, and custom wire products across global energy, chemical, medical, and aerospace industries.
