Alleima has secured its first order from Doosan Enerbility to manufacture steam generator tubing for X-energy’s Xe-100 small modular reactor programme in the United States. The order supports a proposed four-unit nuclear facility in Texas and expands Alleima’s participation in next-generation nuclear energy supply chains.

UNITED STATES OF AMERICA —Swedish advanced materials manufacturer Alleima has received its first order for steam generator tubing designed for helium-cooled small modular reactors (SMRs), with South Korean engineering company Doosan Enerbility placing the order for X-energy’s Xe-100 reactor programme in the United States. Alleima will manufacture and supply the specialised tubing to Doosan, which will incorporate the components into the reactor programme’s equipment supply chain.

The initial deployment targeted by the order is a proposed nuclear power facility comprising four Xe-100 reactor units at an industrial site in Texas. The development is supported by the US Department of Energy through its Advanced Reactor Demonstration Program. The Xe-100 is a high-temperature gas-cooled reactor that uses helium rather than water as its cooling medium. Its design enables the generation of electricity as well as high-temperature steam for industrial processes, potentially extending nuclear power applications beyond conventional electricity production.

The order represents an important development for the advanced nuclear manufacturing supply chain. Steam generator tubing is a critical component in nuclear power systems, requiring specialised materials and manufacturing capabilities to meet demanding operational conditions. Securing a supply position in the Xe-100 programme gives Alleima an opportunity to participate in the emerging market for advanced reactor technologies while strengthening cooperation with established nuclear equipment manufacturers.

The development also reflects the growing importance of industrial heat and reliable low-carbon electricity in energy-intensive sectors. If deployed commercially, helium-cooled reactors could provide industrial facilities with a combination of electricity and process heat, creating potential applications across chemicals, manufacturing and other energy-intensive industries. The proposed Texas installation could also contribute to the development of the US advanced nuclear industry and its domestic component supply network.

For Alleima, the order complements its investments in specialised nuclear tubing manufacturing. In June 2026, the company inaugurated its Tube Mill 2026 facility in Sandviken, Sweden, following an investment aimed at expanding production capacity for conventional nuclear power plants and SMRs. The new order provides an additional commercial application for its advanced tubing capabilities, although the financial value and delivery schedule of this particular order have not been disclosed.

Alleima is a Sweden-based manufacturer of advanced stainless steels, special alloys and high-performance industrial products, including seamless tubes for energy and other demanding industries. Doosan Enerbility is a South Korean engineering and manufacturing company specialising in power generation equipment, nuclear components and infrastructure projects, while X-energy is a US-based developer of advanced nuclear reactors and specialised nuclear fuel technology.

For businesses and investors, the order highlights opportunities emerging from the commercialisation of next-generation nuclear technologies. Continued progress on the Texas deployment could create further demand for specialised materials, reactor components and engineering services. However, the scale of future opportunities will depend on project execution, regulatory approvals, manufacturing readiness and the ability of advanced reactor developers to move from demonstration programmes towards commercial deployment.
