Sellafield Ltd has selected the Amentum-led OneAxIoM joint venture as preferred supplier for the first lot of its Projects and Asset Care Execution framework. The program, valued at up to $2.78 billion, will cover engineering, plant modifications, commissioning, dismantling and long-term asset care over an initial nine-year term.

UNITED KINGDOM —Sellafield Ltd has selected OneAxIoM, a joint venture between Amentum and Mitie, as preferred supplier for Lot 1 of the Projects and Asset Care Execution (PACE) framework at the United Kingdom’s Sellafield nuclear site. The program has a potential value of up to $2.78 billion (£2.1 billion), with formal contract award subject to completion of final contractual arrangements.

OneAxIoM will deliver the work with supply chain partners Assystem and Mott MacDonald. The framework is intended to support Sellafield’s spent fuel management and retrieval activities through a broad range of asset-related services. These include engineering and design, procurement, installation, plant modification, project management and controls, commissioning, dismantling, removal and ongoing asset care.

The initial term is nine years, with an option to extend the arrangement by a further six years. The long duration and wide scope give the selected suppliers responsibility across multiple stages of the nuclear asset lifecycle rather than a single construction or maintenance activity.

The program is significant for the UK nuclear supply chain because Sellafield’s operations involve the management and retrieval of legacy nuclear materials and spent fuel. The work is therefore relevant to engineering and EPC contractors, specialist nuclear service providers, equipment suppliers and companies providing project controls, commissioning, decommissioning and asset-management capabilities.

For Amentum, Mitie, Assystem and Mott MacDonald, the framework creates a long-term delivery pipeline within the UK nuclear sector. For businesses across the supply chain, the scope could generate opportunities linked to plant modification, engineering services, asset maintenance and decommissioning activities as projects are brought forward under the framework.

Sellafield Ltd operates the Sellafield nuclear site in Cumbria, England, where activities include nuclear fuel management, waste management, decommissioning and remediation. Amentum is an engineering and technology services company with operations supporting government and commercial customers, including in the nuclear sector.
