Aramco selects McDermott for multi-year project management in Saudi Arabia

Saudi Aramco has appointed McDermott to a long-term project management consultancy framework. The multi-year agreement covers engineering, front-end development, and consultancy services for major energy, petrochemical, and low-carbon infrastructure projects across the Kingdom.

Saudi Aramco has named McDermott as one of 11 approved contractors under a new multi-year project management consultancy long-term agreement. Operating through its local subsidiary, McDermott Nederland B.V., the engineering firm will provide pre-FEED, FEED, and project management services for large-scale investments across Saudi Arabia's downstream, petrochemical, energy, and low-carbon sectors. As part of this initiative, McDermott has formed a strategic partnership with Solutions Leaders Fayez Engineering, a local engineering company and certified Aramco contractor, to combine international project expertise with domestic execution capabilities. Saudi Aramco is the state-owned energy enterprise of Saudi Arabia and the world's largest integrated oil and gas corporation.

This development secures a steady pipeline of capital-intensive infrastructure contracts for international engineering providers within the Middle East's primary energy market. The long-term nature of the framework underscores a shift toward structured, multi-year vendor relationships designed to de-risk complex industrial completions. For the broader industry, the mandate heavily emphasizes localized supply chains and execution, requiring foreign enterprises to align closely with native engineering firms.

For investors and global energy enterprises, this arrangement indicates a sustained capital expenditure commitment by the Saudi government toward economic diversification, particularly in high-value petrochemicals and transition-aligned low-carbon infrastructure. The domestic partnership structure also highlights a growing regulatory and commercial necessity for multinational corporations to embed local capacity-building into their project delivery models when bidding on Gulf infrastructure programs.
