BAE Systems has secured a follow-on production and modernization agreement with Lockheed Martin to deliver its AN/ASQ-239 electronic warfare suite across upcoming manufacturing lots and legacy retrofits for the international F-35 Joint Strike Fighter fleet.

UNITED STATES OF AMERICA —Lockheed Martin has awarded BAE Systems a multi-lot defense supply contract to manufacture advanced electronic warfare systems for the global F-35 Lightning II stealth fighter program. Under the agreed terms, BAE Systems will supply hardware, software capabilities, and threat-detection systems for F-35 production Lots 20 through 22, alongside providing upgrade suites for previously fielded aircraft.

BAE Systems Inc. is the US-based defense, security, and aerospace subsidiary of British defense prime BAE Systems plc. The corporation designs and builds tactical electronic warfare solutions, advanced threat-warning technologies, and integrated avionics platforms across multiple manufacturing sites, including facilities in Texas and New Hampshire.

The integration of modernized electromagnetic spectrum technology into tactical air fleets represents a pivotal shift toward digital warfare capabilities. Advanced electronic attack, electronic protection, and passive long-range sensing mechanisms give military aviators rapid threat processing, enhanced battlespace awareness, and defensive survivability when operating inside high-threat airspace environments covered by modern integrated air defense networks.

This defense production award strengthens operational readiness for allied air forces utilizing the Joint Strike Fighter framework. By scaling hardware assembly and integrating agile software architectures, the contract accelerates force modernization across international defense partners, ensuring interoperability between global armed services amid expanding geopolitical security requirements.

From an industrial and investment perspective, the agreement provides sustained revenue visibility across defense supply chains, reinforcing long-term manufacturing operations for aerospace suppliers. Continued capital investment in automated assembly and production infrastructure enables prime contractors to accelerate delivery timelines while bolstering defense industrial base capacity against persistent global market demand.
