BlackSky Technology has secured a seven-figure, multi-year international contract covering Assured and On-Demand satellite imagery subscriptions. The agreement expands a successful pilot into recurring access to Gen-2 and Gen-3 imagery, AI-enabled analytics and monitoring capabilities for multiple locations.
BlackSky Technology has converted an initial international pilot into a seven-figure, multi-year contract covering its Assured and On-Demand satellite imagery subscriptions. The customer will receive access to low-latency data from BlackSky’s Gen-2 and Gen-3 satellite systems, together with AI-enabled analytics. The customer’s identity and the precise contract value were not disclosed.
The agreement combines two service models. The On-Demand subscription provides access to global coverage, while the Assured subscription provides priority access to imagery and analytics within the customer’s designated regional area of operations. Data from both satellite generations will be incorporated into the customer’s existing environment through BlackSky’s Spectra tasking and analytics platform, supporting monitoring across multiple locations.
The Gen-2 constellation is designed for frequent dynamic monitoring, while Gen-3 adds higher-resolution imagery with rapid revisits. Gen-3 satellites produce imagery in the 35-centimeter class and support automated identification and classification of vehicles, aircraft, vessels and other objects of military interest. Together, the systems provide different levels of coverage, frequency and image detail for intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance operations.
The contract is significant for the commercial satellite intelligence market because it demonstrates the conversion of an evaluation program into a longer-term recurring services agreement. For defense and security organizations, combining frequent monitoring with higher-resolution imagery can support surveillance requirements across geographically dispersed areas without relying on a single imagery capability.
BlackSky Technology is a U.S.-based space technology company focused on satellite-based Earth observation and geospatial intelligence services. Its platform combines satellite imagery, tasking and analytics to support government and commercial users. The expanded international subscription adds to the company’s recurring revenue base while increasing customer utilization of its Gen-2 and Gen-3 constellation.
