OMAN —Blue Gas Company has officially secured a controlling majority interest in Muscat Gases Company SAOG after concluding its takeover proposal. According to a regulatory disclosure submitted to the Muscat Stock Exchange, Blue Gas finalized the acquisition of 57.091% of the total issued shares of the Omani gas distributor.
This major ownership shift follows an initial disclosure issued on 28 June 2026, which outlined the terms of the takeover offer presented to shareholders. The successful transaction grants Blue Gas full operational and strategic control over Muscat Gases, consolidating its market position within the regional industrial and medical gas delivery segment.
Muscat Gases Company SAOG is an Oman-based publicly traded corporation established in 1989 and headquartered in Rusayl. The company specializes in the manufacturing, bottling, and distribution of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), industrial gases, and specialized gas mixtures for commercial, healthcare, and industrial applications across the Sultanate of Oman.
The acquisition reflects ongoing market consolidation within the Middle Eastern energy distribution and industrial gas sectors. Strategic buyers are increasingly expanding market share to capitalize on scale efficiencies and capture rising demand driven by regional industrial growth and infrastructure development.
For institutional investors and energy sector stakeholders, the change in controlling ownership is expected to lead to strategic restructuring, operational synergies, and potentially altered capital allocation models for Muscat Gases as it aligns with Blue Gas Company's broader corporate framework.
