Belgian specialty chemicals and metals recycling firm Campine has agreed to purchase Flamaway Group to scale up its flame retardant operations by over 50%. The deal enhances Campine's portfolio with multi-material formulations and liquid chemical solutions across Europe and Asia.

BELGIUM; CHINA Euronext Brussels-listed metals recycling and specialty chemicals company Campine NV has agreed to acquire Belgian flame retardant producer Flamaway Group. Scheduled to close on October 1, 2026, the transaction integrates Flamaway into Campine's Specialty Chemicals Division. The acquired business generates nearly €40 million in annual revenues with an EBITDA margin of approximately 10% and produces around 10,000 tons of chemical compounds per year.

Headquartered in Beerse, Belgium, Campine NV specializes in lead recycling and specialty chemicals, particularly antimony trioxide-based flame retardants and plastic masterbatches. Zele-headquartered Flamaway Group operates manufacturing, research, and sales facilities in Belgium, the UK, and China, employing over 50 people worldwide across its technical, commercial, and research operations.

This strategic move significantly broadens Campine's market reach and technical expertise, expanding its flame retardant sales volume by more than 50%. While Campine's existing product offerings focus primarily on powder and pellet masterbatch formats using antimony trioxide, Flamaway brings advanced multi-material and liquid chemical formulations. This technical diversification allows the combined entity to offer a comprehensive range of ready-to-use solutions to global industrial customers, particularly within the textile sector.

The integration represents a significant shift in the specialty chemicals supply chain, enhancing procurement synergies and research capabilities across European and Asian manufacturing hubs. By consolidating regional production facilities in Belgium, the UK, and China, the combined organization gains stronger access to international supply networks and expanding global markets seeking advanced material safety compliance.

For industrial manufacturers and investors, the transaction illustrates ongoing consolidation within the specialized performance materials sector. Access to proprietary formulations and cross-border distribution networks provides Campine with a robust framework for sustained organic growth, operational continuity, and enhanced competitive positioning against global chemical suppliers.
