Citira expands Nordic presence as Lapin Kumi moves to acquire Rengas Turku

Lapin Kumi, a Finnish subsidiary of Citira, has signed an agreement to acquire Southwestern Finnish tire service provider Rengas Turku. The deal incorporates six regional service facilities into Citira's expanding Nordic network, enhancing capabilities across consumer and commercial vehicle segments.

Nordic tire management group Citira is set to strengthen its footprint in Southwest Finland following an agreement by its subsidiary, Lapin Kumi, to buy regional service provider Rengas Turku. Expected to finalize during the third quarter of 2026, the transaction is subject to regulatory approvals and customary closing terms. Under the terms of the agreement, current Rengas Turku leadership will roll over equity to become co-owners of Citira while maintaining existing personnel and branch locations.

Citira is a European tire lifespan management and maintenance provider operating across the Nordic region, the United Kingdom, and Poland. The organization maintains more than 150 service branches, five retreading facilities, and an in-house distribution framework employing over 1,200 workers. Lapin Kumi, established in 1947 in Rovaniemi, functions as Citira's primary Finnish operating arm with a strong historical position in commercial and heavy vehicle tire maintenance.

This strategic consolidation bridges Lapin Kumi's commercial and industrial fleet specialization with Rengas Turku's established regional retail base. Founded in 1994, Rengas Turku has grown beyond its original urban hub to operate six service locations across Turku, Kaarina, Lieto, and Salo. Integrating these sites gives Citira immediate operational scale in southern Finland, broader regional logistics throughput, and an expanded procurement platform.

The acquisition reflects ongoing consolidation across the European automotive services and aftermarket sectors, where service providers seek scale to offset supply chain volatility and capture fleet management efficiencies. Commercial fleet operators and retail motorists in Finland stand to gain from enhanced service availability, unified regional logistics, and access to a broader product portfolio. For market investors, the move highlights Citira's ongoing strategy of absorbing strong regional mid-market operators to bolster market share and drive operational synergies throughout Northern Europe.
