UNITED STATES OF AMERICA —Emerging grid constraints and surging electricity demands are accelerating adoption of intelligent building technologies across the United States commercial real estate sector. In response to these market pressures, energy technology firm Novele has closed an oversubscribed $17M Series A investment round led by Boisei Labs, with participation from Locke Health, Arup Ventures, Barton Malow, and major property owners.
Novele is a United States-based technology company that develops hardware and software systems to optimize energy consumption within existing commercial, retail, and institutional buildings. Its core platform combines distributed energy storage hardware with autonomous operating software to monitor circuit-level data and deliver real-time building control.
Commercial real estate facilities account for a major share of national electricity usage but often lack the system visibility required to adjust power consumption dynamically. By deploying indoor-certified battery infrastructure combined with automated management software, commercial properties can actively predict, reshape, and reduce their load demands. This operational shift provides building operators with reduced utility expenditures and improved operational resilience while supplying regional power grids with much-needed capacity flexibility.
The expansion comes as the rapid growth of artificial intelligence facilities, data centers, and industrial manufacturing places historically high demands on electric transmission networks. Because constructing new utility infrastructure typically requires years of planning and permitting, unlocking hidden load flexibility inside existing, occupied structures presents an immediate alternative to increase grid stability.
Commercial real estate operators, construction firms, and utility managers stand to benefit from the broader deployment of automated energy management systems. The capital injection will enable expanded deployment operations across active project pipelines, increased workforce growth in engineering and sales, and ongoing development of autonomous grid optimization algorithms.
