Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners has acquired a 25 percent stake in the Five Estuaries offshore wind farm through its fifth flagship fund. This strategic investment expands the firm's United Kingdom energy infrastructure portfolio and supports the development of the 1,080 megawatt project, which is projected to supply power to one million homes.

DENMARK; UNITED KINGDOM —Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners has successfully acquired a 25 percent equity stake in the Five Estuaries offshore wind farm through its fifth flagship fund. The transaction involves purchasing the share previously held by a Macquarie-led consortium. This strategic realignment positions the firm alongside existing project partners, including EDF Power, ESB, and Sumitomo Corporation, to advance the development of the renewable energy asset.

This development is strategically significant as it reinforces the commitment of major institutional capital to large-scale renewable energy projects in the United Kingdom. The Five Estuaries project, situated approximately 40 kilometers off the coasts of Essex and Suffolk, has a planned capacity of up to 1,080 megawatts. Having secured development consent in late 2025, the infrastructure is projected to generate sufficient electricity to meet the annual demands of roughly one million domestic households, directly supporting national energy security and decarbonization targets.

The transaction impacts the renewable energy, infrastructure development, and utility sectors across the United Kingdom and Ireland. Stakeholders, including local communities, supply chain contractors, and regulatory bodies, will observe accelerated procurement and design activities. The involvement of a diversified consortium of international utilities and trading corporations ensures robust financial backing and technical expertise, mitigating execution risks typically associated with complex offshore wind deployments.

For investors and market participants, this acquisition highlights a broader trend of institutional fund managers consolidating positions in mature, consented renewable energy assets. Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners, founded in 2012, is a global fund manager overseeing approximately 43 billion euros across 15 funds, specializing in power generation and energy transition infrastructure. By integrating this asset into its United Kingdom portfolio, the firm demonstrates a long-term commitment to scaling clean energy capacity while providing stable, infrastructure-backed returns for its institutional limited partners.
