CoreMarine and Jumbo Offshore have secured a contract from Southern Energy S.A. to transport, install, and hook up soft-yoke mooring systems for two FLNG vessels in Golfo San Matías. The project supports Argentina’s gas export expansion, with installations scheduled for 2027 and 2028.
According to a company announcement, CoreMarine and Jumbo Offshore have been awarded a significant contract by Southern Energy S.A. (SESA) to perform transport and installation of soft-yoke (SSY) mooring systems, along with hook-up of the Hilli Episeyo and MKII FLNG vessels in Argentina’s Golfo San Matías. The consortium backing SESA includes Pan American Energy, YPF, Pampa Energía, Harbour Energy, and Golar LNG. Under an integrated delivery model, CoreMarine as lead contractor will engage Jumbo to install SSY mooring systems, including heavy lift and piling.
CoreMarine will handle diving, spool installation, riser hook-up, pre-commissioning, and FLNG positioning. The SSY systems, supplied by NOV, allow vessels to weathervane around a single mooring point, eliminating fixed jetties.
The offshore campaign involves simultaneous heavy lifting, riser installation, saturation diving, and multi-vessel SIMOPS. Project management and engineering began in January 2026. Hilli Episeyo installation is scheduled for 2027, followed by MKII in 2028—marking the first SSY application in Argentine waters. This development matters because Argentina is ramping up LNG export capabilities, creating demand for specialized offshore infrastructure.
For subsea equipment suppliers, diving contractors, and heavy-lift vessel operators, this signals long-term activity in South America’s southern gas basin.
