UNITED STATES OF AMERICA —Curtiss-Wright Corporation was awarded a contract valued at approximately $14 million from Northrop Grumman to deliver advanced sensor processing equipment for the U.S. Army’s Improved Threat Detection System (ITDS) Phase II development program. Under the agreement, Curtiss-Wright will provide an integrated, modular processor to pair with Northrop Grumman’s Advanced Tactical Hostile Engagement Awareness (ATHENA) sensor. The effort is sponsored by the U.S. Government under an Other Transaction agreement through Consortium Management Group, Inc., with development and integration activities centered in Ashburn, Virginia, to protect key Army platforms including the AH-64 Apache and the MV-75 Cheyenne Future Long-Range Assault Aircraft.
This partnership integrates Curtiss-Wright’s high-performance modular processing unit with Northrop Grumman’s electro-optical and infrared (EO/IR) sensor package. The system ingests high-bandwidth data in real time, executing data fusion to identify, classify, and counter emerging airborne threats. Engineered with a modular open systems approach (MOSA) aligned to Sensor Open Systems Architecture (SOSA) and Future Airborne Capability Environment (FACE) standards, the technology enables rapid software and hardware upgrades while delivering 360-degree situational awareness against anti-tank missiles, small arms, and unmanned aerial vehicles.
