KONGSBERG has signed a contract worth approximately NOK 400 million to supply additional Naval Strike Missiles (NSM) to Denmark. The government-to-government transaction between Norwegian and Danish defence procurement agencies will reinforce Denmark’s coastal defence capability and expand its existing investment in NSM systems for land-based and naval applications.

DENMARK; NORWAY —Denmark is expanding its coastal defence capabilities through a new missile procurement agreement with Norway. KONGSBERG has signed a contract valued at approximately NOK 400 million to supply additional Naval Strike Missiles (NSM), although the number of missiles covered by the order has not been disclosed.

The transaction is being conducted through a government-to-government arrangement involving Norway’s Defence Materiel Agency (FMA) and Denmark’s Defence Acquisition and Logistics Organisation (DALO). This procurement structure places the two countries’ defence acquisition bodies at the centre of the transaction, linking Norwegian defence production with Denmark’s military capability requirements.

The order builds on Denmark’s acquisition of the NSM coastal defence system in 2025. Denmark became the fifth NATO member to operate the system, joining Poland, the United States, Romania and Latvia. The country has also procured NSM missiles separately for its frigates, giving the missile a role in both land-based coastal protection and maritime operations.

The coastal defence configuration combines NSM missiles with launch platforms and KONGSBERG’s fire-control system. Together, these components provide a land-based capability to engage maritime targets. Additional missiles can support operational readiness and replenish available stocks, although the announcement does not specify delivery dates, deployment locations or the intended allocation of the new supply.

For NATO, the agreement contributes to allied investment in maritime deterrence and the protection of coastal approaches in Northern Europe. Denmark’s geographic position gives coastal defence a role in securing maritime access and supporting regional security. The procurement also reinforces defence cooperation between Norway and Denmark through the use of a bilateral government purchasing framework.

For the defence industry, the contract adds to KONGSBERG’s order activity in the guided-missile market and demonstrates continued demand for coastal strike systems among NATO members. The deal may also support demand across the associated missile production and defence supply chain, although the contract announcement does not disclose industrial participation or manufacturing schedules. KONGSBERG is a Norwegian technology and defence group supplying systems for defence, aerospace, maritime and other industrial applications. FMA manages Norway’s defence materiel procurement, while DALO is responsible for acquiring and supporting equipment for Denmark’s armed forces.
