ITALY; NETHERLANDS —Italian digital printing technology manufacturer Durst Group has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire 100% of MPS Printing B.V., a Netherlands-based manufacturer of flexographic printing systems for the label and flexible packaging industries. Effective January 1, 2027, the company will operate as MPS – A Durst Group Company under its existing management team led by Managing Director Michiel Borst. The transaction remains subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals. Existing customer contracts, service commitments, and European direct sales channels will remain operational, while Durst US will assume sales and service responsibilities for the MPS portfolio in North America.
Durst Group is an international developer and manufacturer of advanced digital printing systems, workflow software, and industrial automation solutions. MPS Printing B.V. is a Dutch machinery manufacturer specializing in high-precision flexographic and hybrid printing presses designed for label conversion and flexible packaging applications.
The transaction strengthens Durst Group's capabilities in flexographic engineering, creating a unified machinery and software platform that spans digital, hybrid, and traditional flexographic production lines. As label converters face growing market demands for shorter run lengths, higher customization, and automated workflows, combining digital inkjet printing with conventional flexographic units addresses diverse packaging requirements. The integration enables accelerated product development cycles and expands global technical support and spare-parts infrastructure across international converting markets.
This consolidation reflects a broader trend within the packaging equipment sector toward multi-technology integration and automated hybrid workflows. For label converters and packaging manufacturers, single-source access to combined digital and flexographic platforms simplifies equipment procurement and software integration. The deal also highlights how industrial machinery manufacturers are scaling geographic distribution networks and technical capabilities to capture market share in connected, data-driven packaging production environments.
