Elsewedy Electric has unveiled more than $200 million in investments across three industrial projects in Egypt covering copper recycling, copper tube production, and aluminum rod manufacturing. Scheduled to commence operations in the first quarter of 2028, the projects are designed to strengthen domestic manufacturing, expand export capacity, and enhance industrial supply chain integration.
Elsewedy Electric has announced plans to invest more than $200 million in three industrial facilities in Egypt, with commercial operations targeted for the first quarter of 2028, according to official disclosures. The investment package includes an electronic waste and copper recycling complex, a copper tube manufacturing plant, and an aluminum rod production line, collectively expected to generate more than 300 direct jobs and approximately 1,000 indirect employment opportunities.
The largest project is an $80 million recycling complex that will process up to 20,000 tonnes of copper scrap and printed circuit boards annually. Using advanced recovery technologies, the facility will produce copper cathodes and precious metals while supplying raw materials to the company's planned copper tube plant, supporting greater industrial integration and circular economy objectives.
Elsewedy Electric will also invest $65 million in a copper tube manufacturing facility with annual capacity of 15,000 tonnes to serve Egypt's growing air conditioning, refrigeration, and home appliance industries, reducing dependence on imported components. A further $55 million will fund an aluminum rod production line capable of producing 50,000 tonnes annually, with output intended entirely for export markets.
The investments reinforce Egypt's efforts to expand value-added manufacturing, improve resource efficiency, and strengthen export-oriented industrial production. The projects are expected to benefit manufacturers across electrical equipment, construction, consumer appliances, and metals processing while enhancing regional supply chain resilience and attracting long-term industrial investment.
