Eurazeo will manage the newly launched Lighthouse Initiative, a $40 million investment vehicle focused on nature and biodiversity solutions. Backed by cornerstone commitments from Bank of America and the Sustainable Markets Initiative, the fund targets global projects aligning with international biodiversity conservation frameworks.

FRANCE; UNITED KINGDOM —Eurazeo has been appointed to manage the Lighthouse Initiative, a newly established investment vehicle dedicated to scaling nature and biodiversity solutions globally. The fund recently secured $40 million in initial capital commitments from cornerstone backers Bank of America and the Sustainable Markets Initiative. The structure is designed to accommodate additional institutional partners to expand its capital base and operational scope.

Biodiversity conservation remains critically underfunded despite its foundational role in long-term global economic stability. This development directly addresses the persistent capital gap by channeling private equity into undercapitalized business models that support ecosystem regeneration, sustainable supply chains, and nature-positive transitions. It demonstrates a tangible shift from theoretical environmental commitments to deployed capital.

The investment mandate aligns closely with the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework, targeting specific international conservation metrics such as the 30x30 land and water protection goal. Capital will be deployed as minority investments into project development platforms and technology-enabled solutions. Priority sectors include regenerative agriculture, bio-based material alternatives, circular supply chain processes, and digital monitoring, reporting, and verification systems across both developed and emerging markets.

For institutional investors and corporate stakeholders, this launch signals a maturing market for nature-based financial instruments. By integrating dedicated biodiversity footprint assessments into its impact framework, the initiative establishes a replicable model for quantifying environmental outcomes. This standardization is expected to reduce the perceived risk of nature-positive ventures, thereby facilitating broader co-investment from development finance institutions and public sector entities. Eurazeo is a global investment firm managing diversified private capital strategies. The Sustainable Markets Initiative is a private sector organization focused on accelerating the transition to a sustainable global economy, and Bank of America is a multinational financial services institution.
