UNITED STATES OF AMERICA —Enterprise network operator Pilot Fiber has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire the New York and New Jersey metro fiber assets of Boldyn Networks. The transaction is backed by a fresh funding round exceeding $330 million led by infrastructure investment firm Fengate Asset Management through its Fengate Infrastructure Fund V. Expected to close in the second quarter of 2027, subject to regulatory clearances and closing conditions, the deal follows Pilot's August 2026 acquisition of Extenet's enterprise fiber unit.
Pilot Fiber is a US-based enterprise connectivity vendor delivering high-bandwidth networking solutions across major urban markets. Boldyn Networks is a global digital infrastructure provider specializing in shared communications systems and venue connectivity. Fengate Asset Management is an alternative investment manager overseeing more than $20 billion in assets under management across real estate, private equity, and infrastructure.
The acquisition expands Pilot's regional infrastructure footprint to over 1,600 route miles of fiber, linking more than 1,200 commercial buildings and 50 data centers. The added assets comprise 860 route miles covering key New Jersey commercial belts and extended coverage across New York City's five boroughs. The integrated entity will deliver dedicated internet, dark fiber, Ethernet transport, wavelength, and IP transit services to an expanded base of enterprise, carrier, and institutional clients.
This portfolio expansion addresses rising demand for scalable digital infrastructure in dense metropolitan hubs. High-density fiber networks are critical to supporting data center interconnection, enterprise cloud adoption, and smart city applications. Institutional end-users in financial services, healthcare, and commercial real estate stand to gain enhanced network redundancy and direct access to high-capacity connectivity options.
The transaction underscores sustained private capital deployment into essential digital communications assets. While Boldyn divests its core metro fiber routes to concentrate on wireless infrastructure at public transport hubs and major venues, Pilot consolidates its market presence as a private regional fiber provider. Strategic investors continue prioritizing cash-flow-generative fiber assets amid increasing data traffic across North American urban corridors.
