Ubicité has acquired Rennes-based Wi6Labs to strengthen its internet of things infrastructure and data collection services. The strategic transaction enhances Ubicité's ability to deliver end-to-end digital and smart city solutions for public authorities and industrial clients across connected territories.

FRANCE —French digital solutions provider Ubicité has completed the acquisition of Wi6Labs, a wireless technology specialist focused on sensor data collection and processing. The transaction integrates Wi6Labs' proprietary LoRa network architecture and modular internet of things (IoT) frameworks into Ubicité's broader technology suite. Based in Rennes and established in 2014, Wi6Labs provides end-to-end data gathering solutions that support smart city projects and industrial automation.

Ubicité specializes in digital systems designed to assist municipalities and corporate enterprises in managing environmental transitions, optimizing infrastructure performance, and preserving municipal resources. Stephenson Harwood provided legal, tax, and employment advisory services to Ubicité for the acquisition.

Integrating specialized hardware and data extraction capabilities remains a critical bottleneck for smart infrastructure deployments. By acquiring an established developer of low-power wide-area network (LPWAN) technologies, Ubicité directly addresses client demand for unified, deployment-ready IoT ecosystems. The transaction allows the combined entity to manage the entire data lifecycle from hardware-level sensor communication to high-level analytics, eliminating reliance on third-party connectivity providers.

The deal reflects a broader consolidation trend within the European smart territory and industrial IoT sectors. As local governments face tightening environmental mandates and resource constraints, demand for integrated urban data platforms is accelerating. Industrial clients are similarly prioritizing edge-data monitoring to drive operational efficiency and preventative maintenance. Service providers that offer fully integrated sensor-to-cloud architectures are increasingly positioned to capture municipal and corporate digitalization budgets.

For market participants, the acquisition highlights the strategic value of specialized wireless infrastructure assets in scaling corporate service offerings. Combining network deployment expertise with software platforms enables Ubicité to deepen its footprint in public sector procurement and expand its industrial portfolio across European markets.
