AUSTRALIA —Production of solar tracker equipment has commenced for the Sybella Creek hybrid solar and battery storage project in Mount Isa, Queensland, with FTC Solar receiving authorization to start manufacturing for the development. The project has a capacity of 82 MW and is being built using FTC Solar’s Voyager 2P tracker technology.
Initial deliveries are scheduled to begin from the end of 2026 and continue into early 2027. The manufacturing activity represents the equipment supply stage of a broader renewable energy development combining solar generation with battery storage infrastructure.
Sybella Creek is expected to contribute to electricity supply and energy security in Mount Isa, a regional centre in northwest Queensland. Combining generation with storage can allow renewable electricity to be managed beyond periods of direct solar production, providing greater flexibility for the local power system.
The development is relevant to Australia’s renewable energy and electricity infrastructure markets, particularly in Queensland, where solar generation and battery storage are being deployed together to strengthen system flexibility. Solar tracker suppliers, renewable project developers, construction contractors and energy infrastructure operators can be affected by the expansion of hybrid generation projects.
For FTC Solar, the Sybella Creek work adds to its Australian project activity and places its tracker technology within a hybrid generation facility rather than a standalone solar installation. The aggregate value associated with Sybella Creek had already been incorporated into FTC Solar’s reported backlog on August 5, 2026. As a result, the latest announcement concerns authorization to commence production and the timing of equipment deliveries rather than the disclosure of a newly awarded project value.
