INDIA —Deeptech firm GalaxEye has completed the acquisition of Bengaluru-based spacecraft engineering enterprise StarOps, consolidating satellite manufacturing capabilities under a single domestic entity.
GalaxEye develops hybrid Earth observation systems utilizing proprietary OptoSAR technology, which merges synthetic aperture radar with optical imaging to provide continuous, all-weather intelligence. Founded in 2022, StarOps specializes in indigenous satellite bus development, offering qualified hardware architectures in the 50kg, 150kg, and 250kg categories alongside specialized testing infrastructure. The company has demonstrated over 66 percent local component sourcing across its platform offerings.
By bringing StarOps' spacecraft engineering talent, subsystem designs, and platform heritage in-house, GalaxEye transitions from a payload innovator into a vertically integrated satellite mission provider. This operational consolidation significantly reduces reliance on third-party platform vendors, shortens development lifecycles for upcoming constellation launches, and secures key domestic manufacturing assets.
This strategic move aligns with India's broader policy push for self-reliance in strategic technologies and commercial space operations. The integration enhances domestic manufacturing capabilities within the rapidly growing private space ecosystem, positioning local players to compete for commercial and defense intelligence contracts globally.
