Malaysian infrastructure firm Gamuda has won contracts exceeding RM3 billion to construct two major solar-and-battery hybrid power stations in Australia, expanding its renewable energy footprint in the Asia-Pacific region.

Gamuda Bhd has finalized agreements valued at over RM3 billion to develop two utility-scale solar power facilities in Australia. The engineering and construction tasks will be executed via its wholly owned Australian subsidiary, DT Infrastructure. Based in Malaysia, Gamuda Bhd is a prominent engineering and infrastructure conglomerate specializing in large-scale transport, tunneling, and renewable energy developments across Asia and Australia.

The twin initiatives, named Smoky Creek and Guthrie’s Gap, represent the largest combined solar generation and battery storage infrastructure currently being built nationwide. Scheduled for completion within a 30-month timeframe, the facilities will boast a generation capacity of up to 720 megawatts coupled with a robust storage volume of 2,400 megawatt-hours. Following the construction phase, DT Infrastructure will transition into long-term operations and maintenance roles for both assets.

This development underscores the accelerating regional demand for hybridized clean energy infrastructure capable of grid stabilization. By integrating high-capacity battery storage with solar generation, these installations directly address the intermittent supply challenges traditionally associated with renewable energy grids. For institutional investors and utilities operating in the Oceania region, this milestone indicates a maturing market for integrated clean energy assets, positioning Australia as a primary hub for large-scale foreign infrastructure capital deployment.
