GE Vernova has received an order from Middle Delta Electricity Production Company to modernise the Banha and Nubaria power plants in Egypt. The project includes Advanced Gas Path upgrades for two 9F gas turbines at Banha, along with 15-year and 8-year service agreements, aiming to improve efficiency by approximately 2%.

GE Vernova has received an order from an affiliate of Egyptian Electricity Holding Company, Middle Delta Electricity Production Company, to modernise power generation infrastructure at the Banha and Nubaria power plants in Egypt, according to an official announcement. The order was booked in the first quarter of 2026, with the project spanning an anticipated three-year period.

GE Vernova is an energy technology company spun off from GE, specialising in power generation and electrification. The scope includes two Advanced Gas Path (AGP) upgrades for the two GE Vernova 9F gas turbines at the Banha power plant, along with multiyear services agreements for Banha (15 years) and Nubaria (8 years). The upgrades are expected to increase output and improve efficiency by approximately 2%, enabling additional power generation with more efficient fuel use while potentially reducing carbon emissions per megawatt hour.

This development matters for Egypt's power sector, where modernising the existing generation fleet supports electricity demand and energy security objectives. GE Vernova's installed base in Egypt includes more than 60 gas and steam turbines with a combined generating capacity of approximately 10 GW, with the company having supported Egypt's electricity infrastructure for over 50 years.

For the power generation industry, the project demonstrates how AGP technology can improve F-class gas turbine performance. Stakeholders including grid operators, industrial consumers, and households stand to benefit from more reliable power generation and improved operating efficiency. The upgrades help extend maintenance intervals while supporting broader power system objectives.
