GK Energy Limited has secured a contract valued at INR 2.35 billion from the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited to deploy 10,000 off-grid solar water pumping systems. The project, under a state-backed agricultural scheme, strengthens rural clean energy infrastructure and expands the company's regional order book.

GK Energy Limited has been awarded a contract worth INR 2.35 billion by the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) to design, supply, and commission 10,000 off-grid solar-powered water pumping systems across Maharashtra. According to official disclosures, the project involves installing systems ranging from 3 to 7.5 horsepower and must be completed within 60 days from the issuance of the work order.

The initiative operates under the state's Magel Tyala Saur Krushi Pump Yojana, a government program designed to modernize agricultural irrigation infrastructure. By transitioning rural farms to autonomous solar power, the project decreases dependency on the conventional electrical grid while providing farmers with reliable, sustainable energy for crop irrigation.

This contract expands the order book of GK Energy, an asset-light renewable infrastructure firm founded in 2008, bringing its total secured orders from the state utility to INR 6,378.3 million. For institutional investors and clean-tech analysts, the contract underscores the accelerating deployment of decentralized public energy projects across rural India, demonstrating how public-private frameworks can rapidly scale sustainable infrastructure without intensive manufacturing capital requirements.
