Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation will develop a 35-hectare Agro Food Park in Chhapra village, Rajkot, to strengthen the state’s food processing value chain. The project aims to attract investment, improve logistics integration, and provide core infrastructure to support agro-based manufacturing and exports.
Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC), the state’s principal industrial infrastructure agency, plans to establish a 35-hectare Agro Food Park in Chhapra village in Rajkot, Gujarat. The proposed estate is designed to deepen integration across the agro and food processing value chain while attracting fresh industrial investment into the region.
The selected site offers multimodal connectivity critical for perishable and processed food supply chains. It is located approximately 1 km from a State Highway, 25 km from the nearest railway station, and about 55 km from Hirasar Airport. Access to the Dedicated Freight Corridor and proximity to Kandla Port, around 200 km away, are expected to support domestic distribution and export logistics.
The park will include internal road infrastructure, potable water supply, power and gas connections, warehousing and cold storage facilities, a Common Facility Centre, and a laboratory for testing and research. Rajkot already hosts a cluster of food and agro-based enterprises, including companies such as Balaji Wafers, providing an established industrial base for expansion.
For investors and food manufacturers, the project signals Gujarat’s continued focus on value-added agriculture, supply chain modernization, and export-oriented processing, particularly benefiting MSMEs and integrated agro-industrial players in western India.
