Haleon has announced a Rs.20 billion investment to establish its first fully owned manufacturing facility in India at Pithampur in Madhya Pradesh. The project marks a shift from contract manufacturing, strengthening local production, supply chain resilience and export capability while aligning with India’s manufacturing push.

INDIA Haleon, the consumer health company formerly known as GSK Consumer Healthcare, has announced an investment of around Rs.20 billion to establish its first fully owned manufacturing facility in India at Pithampur in Madhya Pradesh. The plant marks its first such facility in South Asia, transitioning from its current reliance on third-party contract manufacturing in the country.

The investment underscores India’s growing importance in global consumer health supply chains and aligns with broader policy emphasis on domestic manufacturing and value addition. Once operational, expected between 2029 and 2030, the facility will focus on oral health products and integrate advanced automated manufacturing systems based on Haleon’s global production blueprint. The development is expected to strengthen supply chain resilience, reduce dependency on external suppliers, and enhance export capabilities to other international markets. It also supports the company’s long-term objective of expanding access to healthcare products to an additional one billion consumers globally by 2030, including around 300 million in India.

Haleon operates in oral health, digestive health, pain relief, respiratory care, and vitamins and supplements, with brands such as Sensodyne, Eno, Otrivin, Centrum, Iodex, and Crocin. Haleon was formed following the demerger of GSK’s consumer healthcare business and is now one of the world’s leading over-the-counter health product companies.
