HENT has signed a NOK 2.8 billion construction contract with Norway’s public broadcaster NRK for the second phase of its new headquarters in Oslo. The 53,500-square-metre development will accommodate broadcasting studios, production facilities and offices, with completion scheduled for December 2029.

NORWAY —HENT, a subsidiary of Sentia, has secured a NOK 2.8 billion contract, excluding VAT, to construct the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation’s (NRK) new headquarters at Normannsløkka in Ensjø, Oslo. The agreement covers the second phase of the development and marks the transition from joint project planning to physical construction. The contract is structured as a collaborative design-and-build arrangement, under which HENT will take responsibility for delivering the building.

The project covers approximately 53,500 square metres and will accommodate television and broadcasting studios, media production facilities, office space and areas accessible to the public. The development is intended to consolidate NRK's operations within a purpose-built facility designed to support its broadcasting and production requirements. Construction is scheduled to progress through to December 2029.

The agreement follows an initial development phase that began in April 2025, during which HENT, NRK and other project partners worked on planning and technical development. With that stage completed, the newly signed contract establishes the commercial framework for the main construction works. The project site is situated near existing railway and metro infrastructure, creating additional logistical and execution requirements for construction activities in the surrounding urban environment.

Environmental performance is another consideration in the development. The building is being considered as a potential pilot project under Norway's FutureBuilt programme, which promotes construction with lower greenhouse gas emissions and high architectural standards. This could introduce more demanding environmental performance requirements than those typically applied to conventional building projects, affecting material selection, construction methods and project delivery.

The development represents a substantial investment in Norway's media infrastructure and creates work for the construction, engineering, building materials and technical installation industries. Its specialist broadcasting requirements will also generate demand for studio construction, acoustic systems, electrical infrastructure and building technology. The proximity to public transport networks makes construction planning and coordination particularly important for contractors and suppliers operating at the site.

HENT is a Norwegian construction contractor and a subsidiary of Sentia, a group operating in the construction and building services sector. NRK is Norway's national public broadcasting organisation, responsible for television, radio and digital media services. FutureBuilt is a Norwegian development programme focused on reducing the environmental impact of buildings and urban development.

For Sentia, the agreement provides visibility of a major construction workload extending to the end of 2029. For the wider Norwegian construction market, the project demonstrates continued demand for large-scale institutional and specialized commercial buildings, particularly those incorporating environmental performance requirements. The contract also highlights the role of collaborative design-and-build procurement in managing complex developments involving technical building specifications, urban constraints and long-term delivery commitments.
