HFCL expands broadband footprint with INR 26.66 billion BharatNet Phase-III infrastructure contract in Uttar Pradesh

Telecom infrastructure provider HFCL has secured a major contract worth approximately INR 26.66 billion from Rail Vikas Nigam Limited to deploy and maintain fiber-optic networks across the Uttar Pradesh (West) circle for the BharatNet Phase-III initiative.

A major expansion of regional digital connectivity is underway following formal regulatory disclosures from HFCL. The telecommunications equipment manufacturer has secured an infrastructure contract valued at approximately INR 26.66 billion from Rail Vikas Nigam Limited for the execution of the state-backed BharatNet Phase-III project within the Uttar Pradesh (West) circle.

HFCL is an Indian technology enterprise that specializes in the design, manufacturing, and integration of advanced fiber-optic cables and telecom network systems. The allocation is divided into an initial capital expenditure of around INR 11.93 billion for network deployment over a two-year timeline, alongside an operational expenditure of roughly INR 14.73 billion designated for ten years of ongoing operations and structural maintenance. This contract follows an earlier INR 21.68 billion framework assigned to the firm by the same issuing authority for the northern territory.

This domestic development accelerates the broader national strategy of eliminating rural digital deficits by linking remote village administrative blocks to high-speed fiber grids. The structural enhancement heavily impacts digital service providers, engineering sub-contractors, and localized optical hardware manufacturing supply chains.

For institutional investors and telecom strategists, the contract secures prolonged revenue predictability for the equipment sector while establishing the essential infrastructure needed for internet service providers and mobile network operators to deploy advanced e-governance, digital healthcare, and e-learning platforms across underserved markets.
