INDIA —Highway Infrastructure has added ₹2.45 billion of tolling contracts across Uttar Pradesh and Tamil Nadu, covering operations on the Gorakhpur Link Expressway and at the Velanchettiyur Fee Plaza on NH-7. The two assignments bring together state and national highway authorities as counterparties and expand the company’s operating footprint across northern and southern India.
The larger award is a two-year work order from the Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority for toll collection and plaza management on the Gorakhpur Link Expressway. The contract is valued at ₹2.20 billion, with ₹1.05 billion payable during the first year and a 10% escalation applying in the second year. The scope covers toll operations and related plaza management services.
In Tamil Nadu, Highway Infrastructure received a Letter of Acceptance from the National Highways Authority of India for operations at the Velanchettiyur Fee Plaza on NH-7. The assignment has a value of ₹244.6 million, adding another NHAI-linked tolling operation to the company’s portfolio.
The combined awards are relevant to India’s highway operations market because toll collection and plaza management provide infrastructure operators with recurring service-based revenue without requiring them to finance the underlying road assets. For highway authorities, outsourced operations can support the administration of user-fee collection and day-to-day plaza activities across established road networks.
For Highway Infrastructure, the contracts broaden geographic coverage while increasing the scale of its tolling business. The company has indicated that its tolling vertical, including existing operations, is expected to generate more than ₹4 billion in revenue over the next two years. The contracts therefore add visibility to a business model that depends on securing and executing finite-term operating assignments.
Highway Infrastructure operates across toll collection, EPC infrastructure and real estate. Its tolling business includes operations on expressways and other road facilities, while its infrastructure activities include roadway, bridge and highway development. The latest awards involve two public-sector highway authorities and directly increase its exposure to toll operations in Uttar Pradesh and Tamil Nadu.
For the broader roads and highways sector, the awards illustrate continued participation by private operators in the management of toll facilities on public road infrastructure. The value and duration of the contracts also make execution, service delivery and successful renewal or replacement of assignments important factors for maintaining revenue continuity as existing operating periods expire.
