Following a competitive public procurement process, the Belgian technology provider, alongside construction partners Cecchini SRL and Gowen SRL, was selected to deliver a compact Proteus ONE system. The comprehensive contract encompasses system design, equipment supply, installation, staff training, and an initial twelve-month maintenance agreement. The facility is projected to commence patient treatments by 2030, with the total investment estimated between thirty-five million and forty-five million euros.
This development addresses a critical geographic gap in advanced oncology care within the Italian healthcare system. Currently, gantry-based proton therapy is unavailable in the central and southern regions of the country.
