Iberdrola commissions 243 MW solar plant in Sicily to underpin Italian corporate PPAs

Iberdrola has commenced operations at its 243 MW Fénix solar facility in Sicily, marking its most expansive solar deployment in the country. According to official disclosures, Iberdrola, a Spanish multinational electric utility and major global renewable energy generator, has commenced commercial operations at the 243 MW Fénix solar photovoltaic plant in Sicily. The infrastructure utilizes over 413,000 bifacial modules and integrates with the national grid via dedicated transmission connections.

This deployment is critical for Italy’s energy transition, directly enhancing domestic clean electricity generation and reducing reliance on imported fossil fuels.
