The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs has sanctioned a 69.69 billion INR investment for a 101.5-km access-controlled highway between Barabanki and Bahraich. Utilizing the Hybrid Annuity Mode, the project aims to optimize cross-border logistics at the Rupaidiha Land Port and stimulate regional economic integration in Uttar Pradesh.

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) has authorized the construction of a four-lane, access-controlled section of National Highway-927 in Uttar Pradesh, with a total capital outlay of 69.69 billion INR. Spanning 101.5 kilometers, the project will be executed via the Hybrid Annuity Mode (HAM). The CCEA is a top-level government body chaired by the Prime Minister, responsible for reviewing and approving major economic policies and high-value infrastructure investments.

This development targets the Lucknow-Rupaidiha corridor, specifically addressing congestion and geometric inefficiencies in the Barabanki and Bahraich districts. This infrastructure upgrade is a strategic pivot for regional logistics, as it directly links major national highways and the Rupaidiha Land Port on the India-Nepal border. By reducing travel time to approximately one hour and accommodating a projected 28,000 passenger car units by FY2028, the highway facilitates more efficient movement of goods and people across international boundaries.

For the logistics, agriculture, and tourism industries, the project provides essential multi-modal connectivity to airports and rail hubs, lowering operational costs through improved fuel efficiency and bypass routes. From a market perspective, the project aligns with the PM GatiShakti framework, signaling a continued commitment to integrated infrastructure planning. The construction phase is expected to generate approximately 7.96 million total person-days of employment, offering significant opportunities for civil engineering firms and material suppliers. For investors, the use of the HAM model provides a balanced risk-sharing environment, ensuring steady project momentum for a corridor vital to South Asian cross-border commerce.
