INDIA —State-owned defense equipment manufacturer BEML has expanded its international footprint after securing an export and maintenance contract valued at approximately INR 755.8 million for heavy mobility vehicles supplied to Southeast Asia.
Under the newly awarded agreement, the company will supply and provide long-term maintenance support for its 12x12 and 8x8 Heavy Mobility Vehicles (HMV). These specialized multi-axle platform vehicles are engineered to transport heavy payloads across challenging terrains, serving critical roles in tactical defense logistics and military troop transportation.
Headquartered in Bangalore, BEML is a public sector enterprise operating under India's Ministry of Defence that manufactures heavy equipment across three core business segments: defense and aerospace, mining and construction, and rail and metro systems.
This commercial development underscores the growing demand for military transport equipment across Southeast Asia, where defense forces are increasingly prioritizing mobility modernization and logistics infrastructure upgrades. The inclusion of ongoing maintenance services within the contract reflects a strategic emphasis on life-cycle support, ensuring operational reliability while creating sustained revenue streams for defense contractors beyond initial vehicle delivery.
The agreement highlights the expanding global reach of India's domestic defense production sector as state-backed manufacturers actively target international markets. Securing supply and sustainment contracts overseas enhances operational credentials and provides a benchmark for further commercial expansion across emerging markets.
