INDIA —Deep-tech textile startup IndigoTex has secured ₹50 million in a seed funding round led by IAN Angel Fund, with participation from SIDBI, FITT, and IIT Delhi Angels. The fresh capital will be directed toward setting up a manufacturing facility in Sonipat, Haryana, expanding operational teams, advancing product development, and obtaining global market certifications for its proprietary sustainable fabric lines.
Founded in 2024 as an spin-off from IIT Delhi, IndigoTex develops eco-friendly textile processing techniques and specialized materials. Its portfolio includes a waterless wool finishing process and washable wool blends designed to reduce reliance on dry cleaning. While commercial production will take place at the Sonipat plant, research and development functions will remain at the Research and Innovation Park at IIT Delhi.
The investment reflects growing commercial demand for sustainable manufacturing methods in global apparel supply chains. IndigoTex is targeting international expansion across Europe, North America, and Australia, having already established non-disclosure agreements with major luxury fashion houses including Ralph Lauren and Kering Group.
By commercializing waterless finishing technology, the venture addresses critical environmental compliance challenges and water intensity in traditional textile manufacturing. The startup's expansion aligns with global brand mandates for reduced water usage and lower operational carbon footprints across industrial supply chains.
For institutional investors and brand partners, early-stage deployments in technical textiles represent a strategic shift toward high-value, tech-enabled material science startups originating from Indian academic incubators.
