GERMANY; INDIA —Semiconductor manufacturer Infineon Technologies has finalized its acquisition of Bengaluru-based C2i Semiconductors, integrating the firm into its Power Systems division to bolster its artificial intelligence infrastructure capabilities.
The integration of C2i Semiconductors brings proprietary software-defined power management architectures, multiphase controllers, and smart power stages into Infineon's product portfolio. As artificial intelligence workloads generate rapid, unpredictable changes in power demand, processor stability hinges on real-time voltage regulation. C2i's digital control technologies enable dynamic load management from grid connections down to individual processor cores, addressing critical efficiency and thermal constraints in high-performance computing systems.
This strategic move directly impacts the data center supply chain, cloud service providers, and chip designers seeking to minimize energy loss in high-density server racks. The transaction also strengthens global semiconductor research and development presence in India, reinforcing Bengaluru as a key engineering hub for advanced power architectures. Germany-headquartered Infineon Technologies is a global leader in power systems and IoT microelectronics, employing around 57,000 workers worldwide and producing silicon, silicon carbide, and gallium nitride components.
Demand for advanced power delivery systems is accelerating as hyperscalers and enterprise data centers scale up hardware to support large language models. By integrating software-defined power controllers with silicon carbide and gallium nitride semiconductors, power component providers can offer higher power density and improved efficiency. This capability becomes a vital differentiator for semiconductor manufacturers competing to supply the next generation of artificial intelligence hardware infrastructure.
