UNITED STATES OF AMERICA —Quantum technology platform provider IonQ has reached a definitive agreement to purchase Zero Trust security enterprise Elisity through an all-stock transaction valued at up to $1.3 billion. Headquartered in College Park, Maryland, IonQ specializes in integrated quantum computing, networking, and security solutions. Founded in 2019, Elisity provides an established enterprise security platform specializing in software-defined microsegmentation and identity-based access control.
The transaction integrates IonQ's advanced post-quantum cryptography and quantum key distribution systems with Elisity's IdentityGraph platform. This combination aims to deliver hybrid cybersecurity solutions capable of mitigating current artificial intelligence and machine-speed attacks while establishing defenses for future quantum computing threats. The agreement positions the combined entity to target the growing microsegmentation market.
The acquisition aligns with expanding regulatory directives and federal mandates requiring enhanced critical infrastructure protection and the adoption of post-quantum cryptography standards. By absorbing Elisity's network policy enforcement tools, corporate buyers and government agencies can simulate and enforce least-privilege access across diverse workloads, devices, and non-human identities without replacing existing architecture.
For corporate stakeholders, the buyout opens cross-selling opportunities across established global enterprise deployments and deep Chief Information Security Officer relationships. Subject to regulatory approvals and customary closing conditions, the transaction is anticipated to close in the fourth quarter of 2026, with Elisity continuing operations under its current leadership.
