IperionX has received a second U.S. Army task order under its SBIR Phase III IDIQ contract to expand domestic titanium processing and component manufacturing. The US$18.5 million base award, with US$11.5 million currently funded, will support production capacity for defense components at the company’s Virginia facility.

UNITED STATES OF AMERICA IperionX has secured Task Order 2 from the U.S. Army under its Small Business Innovation Research Phase III IDIQ contract for domestic titanium production for defense applications. The firm-fixed-price task order carries a base value of US$18.5 million, with US$11.5 million already funded and obligated. Additional options could raise its maximum value to US$25.4 million, subject to government authorization and funding.

The award will finance equipment and manufacturing systems at IperionX’s Virginia facility, expanding the company’s ability to process titanium from powder into finished components. Planned capabilities include production of titanium track pins, bolts and fasteners for U.S. defense programs, with inspection and acceptance activities expected at Detroit Arsenal and Aberdeen Proving Ground.

The task order is the second issued under IperionX’s existing US$ million SBIR Phase III IDIQ framework. Together, Task Orders 1 and 2 have a stated value of approximately US$19.8 million, leaving US$79.2 million of potential capacity under the overall contract ceiling. The distinction between the ceiling and currently funded work means future orders remain dependent on specific requirements, appropriations and government tasking.

For the U.S. defense industrial base, the investment is significant because titanium is used in applications where strength, weight and corrosion resistance are important, while domestic processing capacity can reduce reliance on overseas manufacturing steps. Bringing additional powder processing and fastener finishing activities in-house could also shorten production cycles and provide greater control over component supply for military programs.

IperionX is a U.S.-focused critical materials and titanium manufacturing company developing integrated domestic supply-chain capabilities. Its operations include titanium powder production and downstream component manufacturing, making the Army program relevant to both defense suppliers and the broader U.S. advanced-materials manufacturing sector.

For businesses and investors, the award provides an additional government-backed pathway for scaling IperionX’s manufacturing infrastructure while creating potential demand for further domestic titanium capacity. The funded portion is expected to support near-term industrialization, while the remaining task-order options and unused IDIQ capacity represent potential future work rather than committed revenue.
