CAMEROON —The Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) and the Republic of Cameroon have formalized a €212.35 million financing agreement to advance regional infrastructure. Signed on October 13, 2026, in Bangkok, Thailand, by IsDB Group Chairman H.E. Dr. Muhammad Al Jasser and Cameroon’s Minister of Economy, Planning and Regional Development, H.E. Mr. Alamine Ousmane Mey, the agreement supports the Douala-Bafoussam Road Rehabilitation Project (PRRDB).
The core objective of the transport initiative is to enhance regional connectivity, lower logistics costs, and streamline the movement of agricultural and commercial goods between the West Region trading hub and domestic and international markets via the Port of Douala. The engineering and social scope covers:
- Road Infrastructure: Rehabilitation of 218 kilometers of national highways and 108 kilometers of feeder roads.
- Social Development: Construction and upgrading of classrooms, health centers, water supply systems, local markets, and agricultural facilities along the corridor.
During the bilateral meetings, discussions also reviewed the preparation of Cameroon's upcoming Country Engagement Framework (2027–2030). Since Cameroon joined the IsDB in 1977, cumulative group approvals have surpassed US$4.22 billion, spanning multi-sector investments in energy, transport, and agriculture.
