ITALY —The Italian Army has selected Cubic Defense to modernize its live training infrastructure under the SIM 2.0 program, the company announced. The contract introduces next-generation simulation capabilities, including the integration of mortar systems and the SCOPIC platform, to deliver more realistic and data-rich training exercises.
Cubic Defense, a business unit of Cubic Corporation, provides live, virtual, and constructive (LVC) training solutions to military forces worldwide. The SIM 2.0 effort builds on an existing partnership, enabling Italian units to train in a multi-domain environment that merges live field manoeuvres with virtual elements, reducing reliance on standalone systems.
The program’s design focuses on improving battlefield fidelity, streamlining operator workflows, and capturing detailed performance data for debriefing. This data-driven approach allows commanders to assess decision-making and mission outcomes with greater precision, supporting evidence-based force development.
For defence industry stakeholders, the award underscores a growing European demand for integrated LVC training ecosystems.
