ITI Limited secures INR 8.56 billion 4G network expansion contract from BSNL

State-owned ITI Limited has secured a significant INR 8.56 billion contract from Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) to expand its indigenously developed 4G mobile network across Western India. The project encompasses 7,613 sites and aligns with India's Atmanirbhar telecom initiative.

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has awarded a lucrative commercial contract valued at INR 8.56 billion to public sector enterprise ITI Limited for the extensive rollout of its Phase IX 4G mobile network infrastructure. Under the terms of this turnkey deployment, ITI Limited will manage the foundational expansion across 7,613 operational and saturation sites within BSNL’s critical West Zone territory. The major telecom project is fundamentally tethered to India's domestic Atmanirbhar Bharat telecom framework, prioritizing self-reliance via indigenous equipment.

The scope of work includes Planning, Engineering, Supply, Installation, Testing and Commissioning of 4G Mobile Network on a turnkey basis for 7613 sites in the West Zone. This assignment follows the consortium-led execution of a larger INR 26.40 billion Phase IX.2 initiative across Maharashtra, Goa, Gujarat, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, and the Mumbai Local Service Area (LSA). The current expansion specifically aims to boost connectivity density by incorporating Digital Bharat Nidhi (DBN) funded saturation sites across the same geographic region.

Established in 1948 as India's premier post-independence public sector undertaking, ITI Limited operates six state-of-the-art telecom manufacturing plants nationwide alongside specialized defense and data services divisions. Meanwhile, BSNL remains the cornerstone state-backed telecommunications authority driving public network access.
