INDIA —Power transmission expansion across southern India continues to advance with new engineering, procurement, and construction commitments. According to official company disclosures, Jakson Infra, an Indian infrastructure EPC company providing engineering solutions across power transmission, distribution, and metro electrification, has been awarded a ₹1.28 billion contract by Resonia Limited.
The contract scope entails the complete engineering, procurement, supply, construction, testing, and commissioning of the middle section of the 400 kV Jagalur–Kadakola double circuit transmission line in Karnataka, spanning approximately 90.07 kilometers. The stretch forms an integral component of a broader transmission initiative involving a new 400 kV substation at Hampapura in Mandya district, previously awarded to Resonia Limited by REC Power Development and Consultancy Limited (RECPDCL) under the Tariff-Based Competitive Bidding framework.
The execution of this high-voltage corridor directly addresses growing electricity demand and grid stability requirements in Karnataka. Strengthening transmission infrastructure facilitates seamless power transfer across regional distribution networks, reducing line losses and reinforcing grid resilience.
From an industry and policy perspective, the project reflects sustained momentum under India's competitive bidding framework for power transmission assets. Developing robust 400 kV interconnection corridors allows state utilities to accommodate rising power loads while integrating renewable energy capacity into the national grid ecosystem.
