The phased investment schedule begins in October 2026, targeting commercial operation during fiscal year 2028. Operations will initially focus on delivering specialized chemicals for front-end chip fabrication before scaling up to produce high-purity surface conditioning materials tailored to domestic industry growth.
Tokyo-headquartered Fujifilm Corporation is a multinational company known historically for imaging products, which has successfully diversified into healthcare, advanced materials, and semiconductor manufacturing solutions. Its electronics materials division supplies high-precision chemicals, photoresists, and chemical mechanical planarization slurries essential for modern microchip production globally.
The expansion leverages incentives provided under the second iteration of the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM 2.0), an initiative sanctioned in July 2026 to foster local component manufacturing and reduce reliance on imported technological inputs. By establishing upstream supply capabilities within the country, the project helps construct a self-sustaining semiconductor ecosystem alongside emerging assembly, testing, and fabrication facilities.
For global chipmakers and local electronics manufacturers, establishing a domestic chemical supplier reduces critical supply chain vulnerabilities and transport lead times.
