ARGENTINA —Heavy-lift transport and engineering contractor Jumbo Offshore concluded its operational commitments for the Vaca Muerta Oil Sur marine infrastructure initiative. The assignment involved executing a complex international logistics and subsea placement campaign to support crude oil export capabilities near Punta Colorada, linking production flows from the Vaca Muerta shale formation via a dedicated pipeline network.
The operational phase required deploying the dynamic-positioning heavy-lift vessel Jumbo Javelin to transport critical marine assets, including two CALM buoys and two Pipeline End Manifolds, originating from Muscat and navigating around the Cape of Good Hope to South America. Following transit, the vessel executed subsea positioning and anchoring activities, placing the manifolds at a depth of approximately forty meters while discharging the floating systems.
This logistical milestone significantly strengthens energy export infrastructure in South America, providing essential marine linkage for Very Large Crude Carriers. By facilitating high-capacity crude handling designed to scale up daily throughput significantly, the development accelerates commercial monetization for upstream operators in the region and bolsters regional hydrocarbon trade capacity.
For engineering, procurement, and construction contractors, the successful execution highlights the critical role of specialized heavy-lift capabilities and DP2 vessel fleets in remote offshore deployments. Energy sector stakeholders and investors monitoring South American hydrocarbon logistics view the completion as a vital risk-reduction step toward establishing large-scale export terminals in emerging energy corridors.
Jumbo Offshore is a specialized marine contractor providing heavy-lift transport and offshore installation services globally, operating within the heavy maritime engineering sector. Altius S.A. acts as a regional project stakeholder, while the local execution was supported through strategic regional alliances.
